Folk Icon Garnet Rogers sings extraordinary songs about people who are not obvious heroes and of the small victories of the everyday. As memorable as his songs, his over-the-top humor and lightning-quick wit moves his audience from tears to laughter and back again.
Daniel Champagne will be opening the show for Garnet. This guitar-slapping, body percussion, soulful singing makes this young man one to watch.
Stop by Gallery 2 or call 250-442-2211 for more details.
Gallery 2 would like to invite you come listen to the music of Kelly Joe Phelps.
Vancouver, Washington-based guitarist, singer, and songwriter Kelly Joe Phelps continues to expand the parameters of modern blues through his strong commitment to literary songs and his expressive yet simple guitar stylings. While casual listeners may call Phelps a bluesman, his playing is so fluid, dexterous, and improvised he obviously has the soul of a jazz musician. Phelps was raised in a music-loving household in Sumner, Washington, near Tacoma.
Pick up your tickets at gallery 2 or reserve your tickets by calling the gallery at 250-442-2211.

There’s no show like it anywhere in BC. It’s an intimate part of Boundary culture. On Friday December 4th and Saturday December 5 artisans converge at gallery 2 in the historic courthouse for the 9th Annual Artisan Christmas Faire. Surrounded by stained glass, wood, and the arts, these artisans will bring their best work from the last 12 months, to give you a chance to browse their merchandise, and shop for your holiday gift giving.
You’ll discover beautiful, handmade artisan crafts, while listening to the melodious songs from the harp, played skillfully by Jenn Fenn. Or have a seat in the bistro, right in the gallery, and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea, Christmas baking, or even have your lunch.
When you visit gallery 2 on December 4th and 5th, you’ll find the artists on both floors – this year’s show will be full to capacity. The holiday joy and comfort is brimming over, ready for you to enjoy on the first weekend in December. The selection will be great with PotterBees’ Sandy-Jo Lewis, jewellery and stained glass, by Tracey Jory, and Alex Semenoff’s distinctive wood turnings. New to the show will be Lana Halisheff with her handmade, natural skincare products, John and Leda Fair of Midway with crafted handmade bird houses and canes, Fran Etson with her fabric creations and quilts. Jill Gunnarson, Paper Garden and Kathryn Hankey are back from previous shows and more…
This year you just might leave the gallery with more artwork than you planned. An exciting new feature will have you coming back for more. When you make a purchase from one of the artisans or from the gallery gift shop, you’ll receive a draw ticket. Put one part of the ticket in the draw for the hour, and you enter for a chance to win the door prize – your pick of any of the artisan crafts offered for the draw. You’ll have a chance to win every hour, so be sure and stick around and enjoy the show and come back on Saturday. You could take home a special piece of Boundary culture, for free.

The 17th BC Arts & Culture Week April 15-30, 2016. Spring is here and so is the BC Arts & Culture Week sponsored by the Boundary District Arts Council and gallery 2. We are proud to host the 17th consecutive Arts Week as it is one of the most elaborate display of arts and crafts in the Boundary. The history of this event goes back to June 1979 called ‘Spring Thing’ when the Grand Forks Arts Society had a display in conjunction with Canada Week. In March 1981 it continued in Perley School as the ‘Spring Arts Festival’ along with an evening concert. In May ‘84 ‘Spring Thing’ was expanded and held in the Boundary Mall with over 200 displays. This encouraged the Society to hold Spring Thing events in the Art Gallery in 1985, 1986 and 1987 but due to a lack of a coordinator and funding the last one was held in 1991.
In 1999 the Assembly of BC Arts Councils announced they would help fund local Arts Councils if they participated in an Arts Week during their specified time, the last week in April. The Grand Forks Arts Council with the help from the Grand Forks Art Gallery revived the event and have continued annually with changes in names and buildings.
We are inviting all art and crafts people to enter their exhibits. Application forms are available at gallery 2.
A Gala Performance of BDAC musicians and dancers was held on Thursday, April 21st in the Grand Forks Secondary School auditorium.
Reception and entertainment for all from 1 to 3pm on Saturday, April 23rd at gallery 2.
We are inviting everyone to participate, enjoy and celebrate the ‘ARTS’ in Learning and in Life.

The world of wine can be intimidating. You know what you like and don’t like but it’s difficult to substantiate the differences and express why. Those who have been discovering wine for some time, the experience has just served to increase their hunger for more knowledge.
Through the Gallery’s annual Wine Tasting fundraiser we’ve heard frequently that patrons want more education but the festive atmosphere of the evening is not the optimal time to absorb knowledge. It’s more a time to share a glass with friends.
Here is an opportunity to learn more about the intricacies of wine. Winology 101 led by instructor Moss Scheurkogel of Intersection Winery is an excellent class for beginners as well as enthusiasts. The evening is casual, informative and above all else fun. Whether you bring your partner for date night, girls night out or just a means to pass the last of the winter nights, by the end of the evening you will have a greater appreciation for the different components and features that make each wine varietal unique.
Tickets are on sale Feb 7th in the Gift Shop. There is a limit so make your decision early to raise your wine awareness.
