We are excited to have the “Grand Forks Quilt Connection” showcase their amazing fabric art. “Tiptoe Through Nature” promises to be a refreshing, inspiring exhibition, with the colors of summer, stitched to perfection.

“All these are the inspirations for the fiber art works in this show.  The challenge begins with drawing and designing the piece. Then, detailed planning or to work intuitively?  Realistic, representational or abstract, and to what degree?”  Quilters: Stephanie Alcock, Diana Bartelings, Emilie Belak, Laura Jean Cuthbert, Arielle Gerencser, Helen Hatch, Susan Meanley, Anne Rayner-Gould, Karen Thatcher, Florence Vatkin, Sheila Vockeroth

Gallery 2 – May 14 – August 13, 2016 – Tsuneko Kokubo comes to us from the New Denver area and her exhibit entitled “Regeneration” is refreshing and inspirational. Her artwork reflects her life and the things she values.

In this new work for the Regeneration show, I am combining impressions, abstractions and narrative elements related to early Japanese immigration, family memories, and the internment of Nikkei (Japanese Canadians) in the Slocan Valley – all the while striving for beauty in expected places.”

The Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre (NNMCC), A Call for Justice – Fighting for Japanese Canadian Redress (1977-1988) inspired by the 25th Anniversary of the signing of the Redress agreement. This exhibition will be on display until June 11th. This is a very important show for the Boundary and surrounding areas.  Please take the time to stop by and have a look this is part of our heritage and contains a very powerful story.

The Opening Reception is Saturday, May 14, 2016 from 1-3pm. Please stop by and meet the artists and enjoy some refreshments.
