Domestic Flights

Lou Lynn

July 21 - September 8, 2018

Lou Lynn’s work is an exploration of the archaeology of daily life, through form and material.

She creates contemporary objects that have an implied reference to once-familiar tools, utensils and functional objects, but that leave the question of purpose hanging in the air.  The sculptural qualities and integration of glass and bronze in her work imply a permanence and gravity, while the material forms offer impractical solutions for imagined tasks. There is a tension created – between strength and fragility as well as functionality and esthetics.

Domestic Flights includes the large-scale installation of Fasteners (pictured below) as well as Button Box and several of Lynn’s Implements and Objects. The exhibit will be rounded out with the presentation of her video installation, Stream, which will be projected on the gallery floor.
