Judith Foster

September 16 - November 10, 2017

This collection from the Penticton Art Gallery of painter and printmaker Judith Foster’s monumental body of work The Consul was produced in the late 1950’s and inspired by Gian Carlo Menotti’s award winning opera of the same name. The opera follows the family of a freedom fighter in an undisclosed European nation fighting against a totalitarian regime as they wade through the endless paperwork and bureaucracy at the Consul of an undisclosed government (generally thought to be Switzerland) in an effort to leave for a better life.

Gallery 2 is grateful to Director/Curator Paul Crawford and the Board of the Penticton Art Gallery for the loan of this significant and socially relevant exhibition. Thank you also to Brooke Nyhus for curating the exhibit and catalogue production.
