Wendy Morosoff-Smith
BC artist Wendy Morosoff-Smith, studies the effects of the tide, the weather, and the seasons, observing as they work to shape new forms and patterns on the landscape. She paints intuitively, reacting to her surroundings and the perpetual threat of weather and its consequences. Whether using the prairie or the coastal landscape as her inspiration, Wendy blends abstraction and landscape symbolism with the study of light and space to create meditations on place, time, the elements, memory, and perception. Wendy’s upbringing on the prairies influenced her use of the horizon line as a dramatic point of reference. She studied printmaking at the Santa Reparata Institute in Florence, Italy and at the Emily Carr University in Vancouver. She teaches printmaking workshops in schools and studios. Her prints and paintings have been collected and shown throughout North America, South America, Europe, and Asia.
