Doolee McDonnell

Doolee was born and raised in the West Kootenays. She worked under A.Y. Jackson at the Banff School of Fine Arts and continued her studies at the Universities of Manitoba and Notre Dame and completed her degree in Fine Arts in 1976. “What is a painting for me? I have a camera, I take photographs, I use the images to make a painting.  A photograph is taken in an instant, a painting is the sum of the atmosphere and feeling of that moment; a memory of light sounds, and emotion.” Doolee passed away November 2, 2014.
