Nakusps Narratives

Wendy Toogood

May 12- July 14, 2018

For Naksup Narratives, Wendy Toogood has created 40 new fabric constructions documenting her day to day activities. Initially structured around quickly made line drawings depicting a specific activity or theme, the pieces are then meticulously collaged and embellished with hand embroidery, stitching, and applique.

Toogood’s work intuitively documents everyday events; gardening, studio construction, news items heard on CBC, thrift shop purchases, volunteer work, activities with friends and family, cooking dinners and common household activities. This work speaks to the rigour required in artistic practice and daily life. Using a small format to capture details both small and large, Toogood makes ordinary experiences special.
